...is Darren Laurie. He successfully complete the 2010 Virgin London Marathon on April 25 and has so far raised over £1,300 to help Step by Step in its work - huge thanks, Darren!

Darren still looks pretty fit after his run |
And thanks to all those who supported him, too. Darren is really delighted at the support that he's received.
It's still not too late to support Darren and Step by Step and help us to empower even more homeless people and those facing adversity and help them to achieve their full potential.

He managed to achieve his target run time of under 4 hours (at 3:59:41), although he did have to sprint the last 600 metres! Despite his injury and the killer sprint at the end he was still walking and just about smiling at the end of the race.
He says he has no desire to ever run a marathon again, but has suggested that he could train a young person up to complete a half marathon with him.
About Darren
Darren is 38, and lives locally. When he's not running, he's a police officer. His main sport is karate, which he started when he was 13. A veteran of three international karate events, he ran several karate clubs. He's also won the Metropolitan Police Lafone Cup boxing championship. Darren now coaches boxers from the police and general community in London. He also enjoys climbing and rugby, although he says the running has taken over for the moment.
Last year, Darren ran the Fleet Half Marathon for Step by Step in a time of around 1hr 45min.

You can pledge your support very easily by using the Virgin Money Giving web site - they even take your money quite painlessly (compared to the effort Darren put in, anyway).
