Local charity gives supporters the high jump

Step by Step is offering its more adventurous supporters the opportunity to execute a thrilling parachute jump for free, in return for raising a minimum amount of sponsorship for their exploits.

“We wanted to put some 'fun' back into our fundraising,” says Leanne Grubb, Step by Step's Community Fundraiser, “and this seemed like the ideal choice. Everyone wins: the participants enjoy a really exciting and safe day out, and the opportunity to boast for weeks to come! - and through their sponsorship we gain essential funds to enable us to continue our work supporting homeless young people and those facing adversity in our community.”

Potential skydivers have a choice of three different jumps – tandem freefall attached to a professional instructor from 10,000 ft, solo static line jump from 3,000 ft, or an accelerated freefall solo skydive from up to 12,000 ft. No previous experience is necessary, as full training will be given and third party insurance for each jump is included. (Personal accident insurance remains the responsibility of the participant.) The jump is free for volunteers raising a minimum amount of sponsorship - £395 for the most popular tandem jump.

Jump events are organised across the country throughout the year: volunteers can choose the most convenient date on which to jump from one of twenty British Parachuting Association approved airfields. Many people go as part of an organised group, which increases the enjoyment and encourages team-building.
