Over 45 organisations in the area donated the fruits of their seasonal celebrations to us and we are very grateful to you all for remembering Step by Step in this way. (A full list of donors can be found here.)
As a result, our food store is now replete with such things as pasta, rice, tinned meat, fish and fruit, sauces, cereals, tea, coffee and other non-perishable items, ensuring a continued supply of basic foods for the coming months.
Amanda Dubarry, Step by Step's Chief Executive, says: “As ever, we are grateful for the tremendous generosity of schools, churches and individuals. Your collections enable us to provide good quality, healthy meals for our residents while we focus our resources on providing fresh produce to supplement the basics.”
Steps by Step's aim is to empower young people to become independent and this includes fostering an understanding of healthy eating, cooking and budgeting. The Harvest Festival donations go a long way to supporting this ethos.
If you would like to consider donating part of your 2010 Harvest Festival food collections or other items to Step by Step please contact Zoe Davies, Head of Client Services. In the meantime, if you feel like contributing towards our efforts to make Christmas special for our clients, have a look here to see if there's anything you could do.
