Camino Trek could Support 6 Young People

Denise's Trek of the Camino Way

Denise has volunteered with Step by Step for some time now so has a real feel for the transformations that can take place when a young person is invested in and given support and opportunities.

Walking the Camino de Santiago (the way of Saint James) has been a long-held ambition of Denise's that she was able to undertake between September and November this year. She chose to use the opportunity to raise funds to support Step by Step's work with young people.

We were able to meet up with Denise last week following her 866km trek. She's coping with a bit of an injury, which was a challenge from about 400km, but the funds raised throughout the challenge kept her motivated to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Denise raised over £3500 (including Gift Aid) through her fundraising page. This could pay for 6 young people to access specialist support services and personal development opportunities for around 6 months (working on attendance of 1-3 sessions each week).

Well done Denise, and thank you to everyone who sponsored her!

You don't have to trek 866km to support Step by Step, you don't even have to run a half marathon (though the opportunity is here if you'd like to), to get involved and fundraise for Step by Step see the 'Get Involved ' tab or contact jenny.jackson@stepbystep.org.uk
