Charlie is our Aldershot Foyer Manager and has been with Step by Step since June 2017. We grabbed him for five minutes to find out more about him.

What does your role entail?

"The role of Foyer Manager involves overseeing the day to day running of the accommodation department, with responsibility for the Step Worker team and the young people we support."

What’s the best thing about working for Step by Step?

“It’s the ability we have to give young people a chance to make positive changes to their lives. Saying ‘yes’ when so many have said ‘no’ to them in the past. I also love the random conversations that you can have with the young people!”

What’s the most challenging part of your role?

“Finding the balance between keeping young people in placement and making them feel a sense of worth, while at the same time upholding rules and boundaries and following warning procedures.”

What do you like to do outside of work?

“I spend a lot of time doing musical theatre and have performed in Grease and Jesus Christ Superstar this year. I also like to sleep… a lot!”

What are your goals, dreams or ambitions?

“My ultimate goal in life is to be happy, and I have absolutely no idea what route I’ll take in getting there! I’d like to continue with my career at Step by Step. My childhood dream was to perform on a West End stage, and I’m still secretly keeping my fingers crossed for that!”
