Ryan* came to Step by Step in an emergency accommodation placement following a family breakdown.
From the outset, Ryan was committed to his college studies and has been focused on his aim of joining the Marines since we first met him. Ryan was able to move into longer term accommodation with Step by Step, progressing through Step 1 and on into Step 2 where he’s now handed in his notice as he is ready to move on independently.
Last year, Ryan completed the Great South Run and he's has just spent a week in Plymouth completing the final stages of his physical tests to join the Marines. Despite enduring real challenges prior to staying with us at Step by Step, and encountering difficulties with his contemporaries during his time with us, Ryan has retained his positive attitude and achieved the beginning of his ambition.
His STEP Worker Jenni said, “I could not be happier or more proud of how far he has come or the example he sets for how young people can achieve success when facing adversity.”
