Aldershot Open Day
7 March 2026
We are proud to be taking part in Newbury Pride 2026, standing alongside the local community to celebrate inclusion, identity, and the resilience of LGBTQ+ young people.
You will find Step by Step in Victoria Park, Newbury, where we will have a stall and will also be walking in the Pride procession.
LGBTQ+ young people are disproportionately affected by homelessness, often due to family rejection, discrimination, or a lack of safe and supportive environments. At Step by Step, we work every day to ensure young people feel safe, supported, and empowered to build independent futures.
At Newbury Pride, we will be:
Raising awareness of youth homelessness and its impact on LGBTQ+ young people
Sharing information about how you can support local young people by becoming a Supported Lodgings host, foster carer, donor, or advocate
Celebrating Pride and the strength of young people through positive, interactive, and empowering activities
Whether you are attending Pride for the first time or returning to celebrate with friends, we would love for you to come and say hello at our stall. Our team will be on hand to chat, answer questions, and share how you can Be the Hero for a young person facing homelessness.
Step by Step welcomes the Government’s announcement that they are aiming to reverse the decline in foster carer numbers. The proposed focus on removing barriers, supporting flexibility, and developing new models of care is encouraging, and we recognise the potential these reforms have to create a more inclusive and effective system.
We suggest further measures the government should consider.
