Step by Step is seeking to appoint a Trustee with a Human Resources background who has experience in creating and implementing HR strategies to support the ever-changing future people needs of the charity.

Primary Responsibilities are

  • To provide advice and guidance to the CEO and Board over the annual people review, succession planning, benefits and pay review.
  • To provide advice and guidance to the CEO and Board on all issues related to people management and to advise the CEO and Board on their implications and any necessary actions.

Step by Step is a highly focused specialist charity. Its focus is on empowering homeless young people and those facing adversity to achieve their full potential. It does this by providing a range of accommodation options and support services. These are set into a progressive programme that encourages and motivates young people to achieve their full potential. The Head of Office is based in Aldershot.

We aim to have a diverse board of trustees that reflects the needs of those we support. We welcome approaches from people of different ages, physical abilities, sexual orientation, race and religious beliefs.

The role is for an initial three-year appointment with an option on both sides for a second term.

It is voluntary and unpaid but reasonable travel and expenses can be claimed. Trustees are required to attend 4 Board meetings per calendar year, an AGM and other events as necessary.
