Our Charity, Step by Step has a brand-new exciting opportunity for a Social Worker.

This new role is for a Social Worker with a fostering background who is interested in working in and setting up an Independent Fostering Agency (IFA).

Applications from any individuals currently working as a Registered Manager would be welcome.

SBS are looking for someone who wants to develop their career and become a Registered Manager.

You will have scope to develop your role and also the way in which Step by Step proceed on this exciting new venture for the charity.

You will be working with a team of friendly professionals, who will be able to support your Marketing, HR and Finance needs.

What Step by Step can offer you?

  • A basic salary of between £42k - £46k dependent on experience. (for qualified Registered Managers the salary is up to £55k)
  • The working week is 40 hours. These hours include 2.5 hours of paid breaks.

What would you be doing?

Step by Step will create a brand-new Independent Fostering Agency and want a social worker to work with the team to establish an IFA.

Once the IFA has been set up and you have qualified as a Registered Manager you would be responsible for:

  • Translating the high-level plan to create an IFA into detailed operational plans leading to the successful creation of the IFA
  • Assisting the HR department in the recruitment of new high calibre foster carers, ensuring the very best standards of carer provision, assessment, and Training
  • Developing a training programme and roll out delivery with your team
  • Act as Ofsted Registered Manager for the Independent Fostering Agency, ensuring our services are fully compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements, particularly The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and the National Minimum Standards for Fostering.
  • Lead on any court requirements
  • Be responsible for ensuring that Fostering Panels operate within statutory requirements and perform to the highest standards.

What is Step by Step looking for?

As Social Worker you will be educated to degree level with a professional Social Work qualification, and you must want to work towards a management qualification level 5 approved by OFSTED (paid for by SBS) to become HCPC registered.

You will have with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in family placements, the ability to work under pressure and excellent communication and management skills.

SBS is looking for someone who has experience of setting up projects and who has been responsible for a budget.

Our Charity Step by Step (SBS) passionately believes in supporting young people who are going through hard times. Our unique step by step approach, providing accommodation, personal development opportunities and specialist support services, identifies and fulfils aspirations.

Each year we work with over 1,500 young people aged 11 – 25 offering them a range of support.
