Support Worker (Shaftesbury and surrounding areas)
Step by Step is a young persons charity. We support young people who are going through hard times, including homelessness. We provide accommodation, personal development opportunities, and specialist support services to empower young people and prevent homelessness.
Step by Step has evolved the role of a traditional support worker into what we call a STEP© worker (Skills, Talent, Empowerment, Progress). We have created our own STEP© Plan to enable us to train all of our team to this industry-leading standard. Full training will be provided to all new team members. As a STEP© worker you will have responsibility for ensuring that young people accessing the service receive both opportunity and advocacy and that they are able to develop their skills and talents in a manner which empowers them to go on and access employment and/or educational facilities, whilst continuing to take on more responsibilities and to ultimately achieve and thrive independently.Applicants should have experience of working with young people and should demonstrate both empathy and knowledge of the issues which often result in adversity. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate some creative and inspiring ways to overcome adversity. You should be able to work proactively and on your own initiative.
Successful applicants will demonstrate an awareness of Advantaged Thinking and possess a genuine asset-based approach to working with young people that nurtures talent and elicits real change and development.
