Step by Step (SbS) passionately believes in supporting young people who are going through hard times. Our unique step by step approach, providing accommodation, personal development opportunities and specialist support services, identifies and fulfils aspirations.

Each year we work with over 1,500 young people aged 11 – 25 and our STEP Workers (formerly titled 'Support Worker') play a pivotal role in empowering young people and preventing homelessness.

Our Aldershot Foyer operates a two part accommodation model in order to foster progression routes to independence for young people. We are focused on empowering young people to achieve independence and on providing a range of opportunities, enabling them to optimise their talents and achieve excellent outcomes.

The Step by Step team are positive, dynamic, professional and committed to empowering young people to fulfil their full potential.

Step by Step has evolved the role of a traditional support worker into what we call a STEP worker (Skills, Talent, Empowerment, Progress). We have created our own STEP Plan to enable us to train all of our team to this industry-leading standard. Full training will be provided to all new team members.

As a STEP Worker you will have responsibility for ensuring that young people accessing the service receive both opportunity and advocacy, and that they are able to develop their skills and talents in a manner which empowers them to go on and access employment and/or educational facilities, whilst continuing to take on more responsibilities and to ultimately achieve and maintain independence.

Applicants should have experience of working with young people and should demonstrate both empathy and knowledge of the issues which often result in adversity. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate some creative and inspiring ways to overcome adversity. You should be able to work proactively and on your own initiative.

Successful applicants will demonstrate an awareness of Advantaged Thinking and possess a genuine asset-based approach to working with young people that nurtures talent and elicits real change and development.
