Supported Lodgings Support Worker - Swindon
Step by Step (SbS) passionately believe in supporting young people who are going through hard times. Our unique step by step approach, providing accommodation, personal development opportunities, and specialist support services, identifies and fulfils aspirations.
Each year we work with over 1,500 young people aged 11 – 25 and our Support Workers play a pivotal role in empowering young people and preventing homelessness.
We have evolved the role of a traditional support worker into what we call a STEP© worker (Skills, Talent, Empowerment, Progress).
We have created our own STEP© Plan to enable us to train all of our team to this industry-leading standard.
As a STEP© worker for Supported Lodgings, you will have responsibility for recruiting and assessing suitable host individuals or families, overseeing referrals into the service as well as ensuring that they move on positively from the service. This role will work with both the host and the client to support placements and ensure that young people are empowered to successfully progress whilst making the most of their skills and talents.
The successful applicant must demonstrate both experience and expertise in working with young people, and in promoting talents and facilitating opportunities and will be responsible for monitoring quality to evidence the highest standards of practice and outcomes achieved.
You will be expected to work proactively using your own initiative to make decisions relating to the support of host placements, and will need to build strong links with key agencies and stakeholders across Swindon.
An ability to manage time flexibly, and use of a car for work purposes are crucial to this role.
