What can Step by Step offer you?

  • The basic salary for this full-time role is £21,478.
  • Starting holiday allowance of 25 days of paid holiday plus an 8-day Bank Holiday Allowance, increasing with service.

Who are we?

Step by Step (SBS) passionately believes in supporting young people who are going through hard times. Our unique step by step approach, providing accommodation, personal development opportunities and specialist support services, identifies and fulfils aspirations.

Each year we work with over 1,500 young people aged 11 – 25 and the Youth Worker plays a pivotal role in empowering young people and preventing homelessness.

What is Step by Step looking for?

  • Someone who has experience of giving advice and/or support
  • Someone who has experience of working with vulnerable adults or children
  • Someone who has experience of working in a young person focused role
  • Someone who has experience of managing demanding situations and challenging behaviour
  • Someone who can understand the principles of goal setting, risk assessment and support planning concerning young people
  • Someone who understands local and national support services in relation to: housing, health, advocacy, education/employment, emotional wellbeing or finances.
  • Qualified to deliver sexual health education including condom distribution and basic sexual health screening
  • Ability to work on own initiative and manage time effectively
  • Competent user of database systems and Microsoft Office package
  • A good level of literacy and comprehension to prepare case records and communicate effectively in writing
  • Willingness to work flexibly in response to changing organisational requirements, including working outside office hours where required

Other Information

This is a Monday to Friday role working from 1000 – 1800.

There is no need to be a car driver in this role, but there is a permit for a nearby car park if you do drive.
