Intrepid fundraiser Leslie Clarke is taking on an impressive challenge to raise money for Step by Step.
Despite his advanced years and a history of leg injuries, the 86-year-old is to walk 30 miles on 29th August 2020. He will complete a 3-mile circuit of Normandy Village 10 times, a feat he expects to take around 10 hours.
As well as Step by Step, the walk is also in aid of Combat Stress, a charity which supports former servicemen and women with issues such as PTSD.
Leslie said: “I will be raising funds for two charities close to my heart, both of which are desperate for more financial support. I decided that I should do something for those less fortunate than me.”
The octogenarian recently spent two years undergoing a series of ankle operations, followed by a serious leg injury. He is undertaking the sponsored walk to commemorate reaching his 86th birthday.
Leslie will be starting his walk at 7am on 29th August. “If anyone wants to join me for all or part of the walk, or turn out to cheer me on, you are more than welcome.”
