Appointment of a new Chief Executive
The Trustees of Step by Step have great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Ben Harman as our new Chief Executive.
Ben joined Step by Step in May 2017 as Head of Business Services following his time in senior positions at well-known Surrey based charities supporting young people, including Linkable where he held the position of Managing Director and Eikon where he was Director of Youth Work.
Keith Gathergood, Chair of the Trustees at Step by Step, said
“We are delighted to welcome Ben into this new role with us, following an impressive initial tenure as our Head of Business Services. We are fortunate to have such internal talent with a background very much rooted in Youth Work. This reflects our focus on providing a wraparound and holistic approach to supporting young people, with accommodation being just one element of that support. The Trustees are excited to work alongside Ben as we continue to develop our work in this evolving and challenging sector as we look to secure and grow our services for supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged young people for many years to come. ”
Ben, who took up the permanent position of Chief Executive in May 2018, said
“I feel honoured to be appointed to this role and lead an organisation that works tirelessly to empower young people and prevent homelessness in our local communities. I would like to thank my predecessor, Amanda Dubarry, who led Step by Step during a time in which the charity developed and grew beyond recognition. Step by Step delivers high quality services and has done consistently for almost 25 years. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead such an admired and ambitious charity and aim to continue to deliver quality services and grow this amazing organisation.”
