Brighter Futures 2022 Now Live

  • 1 June 2022

A staggering 96% of the young people who come to Step by Step lack independent living skills. This represents a real barrier to moving on to independence and ultimately leaving homelessness behind them.

Brighter Futures 2022 is the second year of our fundraising appeal that asks member of the public, community groups and companies to help give young people the chance to achieve a positive, sustainable future.

Young people need more than just a roof over their heads. That’s why we also focus on building a young person’s skills, supporting their mental health needs, and empowering them with the tools to make an independent life for themselves.

This year we are asking our supporters to make a regular monthly donation to support young people as they work towards a brighter future. Young people like Layla, who says: “Step by Step has taught me that my past doesn’t have to affect my future and anything I put my mind to, I can achieve.”

That’s why we provide more than just accommodation. We also focus on building a young person’s skills, supporting their mental health needs, and empowering them with the tools to make an independent life for themselves.

“Brighter Futures is an important appeal for us,” say Anda Chiu, Head of Fundraising. “Our wraparound services make a real difference in helping young people to successfully move on. We believe in investing in young people so that they will hopefully not need us in the future.”

Last year we raised over £5,000 and we would love to do even better this year.

Just £10 a month could pay for a one-to-one advice session, while £20 a month could fund work readiness training.
