Camberley Golf Club Captains make History

  • 24 January 2018

For the first time in Camberley Heath Golf Club's illustrious history, a married couple have been elected as Captain and Lady Captain in the same year.

In addition to a packed programme of golf and social events, one of the most important aspects of the role is to nominate and raise funds for the Captain’s charity. For 2018, Kevin and Deborah Warner have both selected Step by Step as their joint Captains' charity. Kevin and Deborah have set up a Just Giving page for people who would like to support the charity. The Captains’ year officially launches on February 1st with a special “Drive-In” ceremony, and club competition then taking place on February 25th. Of the charity selection Deborah says,

“We were both particularly keen to select a charity that helps local young people. After visiting Step by Step and learning more about its fantastic work, we decided that we would like it to be this year’s official charity.”

We are delighted to be partnering with both Deborah and Kevin during their captaincies. Chiara Cadei, Community Fundraising Officer here at Step by Step, said:

“We are naturally delighted to be chosen by Camberley Heath Golf Club as this year’s charity and would like to thank Kevin and Deborah for their valued support and to wish them a very successful and enjoyable captaincy year.

Husband and wife, Deborah and Kevin (pictured above with Chiara, left), have been members of the golf club for eight years and are looking forward to a busy schedule of official club competitions, matches and social events. Kevin says,

“It is a great honour and privilege for Deborah and I to take on the captaincy roles at Camberley Health. Our beautiful golf course was designed by renowned architect Harry Colt and was founded in 1913. It is a challenging par-71 course which has been voted one of the top 100 courses in England.”
