An intrepid group of fundraisers lead by Councillor Alex Crawford are walking hundreds of kilometres to raise money for young people facing homelessness. Calling themselves the Cargate Crew, the group of eight are each walking 272km in and around Aldershot to support Step by Step.
The 272 Challenge invites participants to set their own personal physical challenge based around 272 – the number of young people we can accommodate each night. Participants can do their challenge however and whenever they wish, while getting sponsored to help fund our vital services.
Upon hearing about the challenge, Alex assembled a team with ages ranging from 13 to 77. “When I asked if our walkers and runners would like to make up a team, they were keen – so we did it.”
The Cargate Crew have certainly embraced the challenge, walking every day no matter what the weather. Not even snow has held them back from completing hundreds of kilometres between them. They have so far raised over £2,000, smashing their target with walking still to be done. The team are in the top 5% of fundraisers on JustGiving.
Well done the Cargate Crew!
