Sleep Out 2022 is shaping up to be a fantastic event, with dozens of people having already signed up to take part. With just under two weeks to go, we are hoping for even more sign-ups and, crucially, even more money raised.
The event takes place on 7th October at Farnborough Business Park and is our first in-person Sleep Out since 2019. With a fantastic new venue, some great music acts lined up, and a barbecue to tuck into, it should be an enjoyable evening. At least until the sun goes down, the lights go off, and it’s time to sleep out on what it likely to be a long, cold night.
There’s a serious side to this event, of course – raising money and awareness for young people facing the prospect of sleeping rough for real, which is why we’re so pleased to see lots of participants getting sponsored on JustGiving.
Maddi is just one of the hundreds of young people we support each year and why the Sleep Out is so important to us. We gave Maddi an emergency bed when she left the care system with nowhere else to go, and then a place in our Supported Lodgings service. She was highly vulnerable, with anxiety, depression and a history of self-harm. With a new, caring home and access to structured support, Maddi could focus on her future for the first time. She is now attending college, grown in confidence, and is working towards independent living.
There’s still time to sign up for Sleep Out 2022 and help make a difference to young lives. Find out more here.
