Emergency Placements for Young People in Crisis

Young People in Crisis

In addition to our work with local young people experiencing hard times, Step by Step are now operating three emergency beds for unaccompanied asylum seeking children. Young people, aged 16-21 can stay in these crisis placements for up to 14 days while a longer term solution is sought.

Unfortunately, nearly all of the young people (usually teenaged boys) referred to these placements will not have any clothes,

"I had one young man last week and he had been wearing the same clothes for several weeks and so the Host needed to wash his clothes for him but didn't have any spare." ~ Lisa, Supported Lodgings Support Worker.

Step by Step wouldn't usually be in a position to manage donations of clothing, however, in this particular circumstance, we are requesting support with donations of male / unisex (age 16-21, small adult):

  • dressing gown,
  • slippers,
  • tops,
  • trousers / jogging bottoms
  • shorts,
  • shoes or trainers
  • Brand new in pack / with tags pants,
  • Brand new in pack / with tags socks.

Please call the fundraising team on 01252 346107 or email fundraising@stepbystep.org.uk to arrange dropping your donation to our Aldershot office.
