We are delighted to report that our Open Doors 2019 Christmas appeal exceeded our expectations and raised over £28,000. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to give 289 young people the closest thing they could have to a family Christmas, and the support they need beyond the festive season.
The young people staying with us, whether in our foyer accommodation or in Supported Lodgings, not only had a safe place to call home for Christmas, but will continue to receive the support they need to break the cycle of homelessness and look towards a brighter future.
Open Doors 2019 asked members of the public, community groups and businesses to help us accommodate and support young people at a difficult time of the year. Christmas is a reminder of families they can’t be a part of, so we were delighted to be able to offer some comfort and hope.
As well as their generous donations, many of our supporters also returned gift tags with their handwritten messages to the young people staying with us. Check out a small selection of these below.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped make our Open Doors 2019 appeal a success. We’re hoping to achieve even more next time!
Jack was unable to live with his mum as she wasn't able to find permanent accommodation. He presented himself to our Youth AIMS drop-in advice service where he was able to receive support and look at the next steps available to him.
