We’ve been running environmental awareness campaign "Go Green" throughout October. This encourages Step by Step staff and young people to get involved with being more green, including thinking about how much plastic they use, wasting less and recycling more.
Here are just some of the things we’ve been up to in our regional Foyers:
Go Green posters have been put up to encourage recycling. Young people received a talk on plastic waste from zero-waste shop owner and campaigner Kate Cottrell.
With a recently renovated garden, the Foyer team are instilling a Grow Your Own culture and plan to work with the young people to grow seasonal fruit and vegetables.
Young people have been learning how to make eco bricks from leftover plastic waste from the Foyer.
New recycling bins have been ordered for the young people to use, as well as a larger bin for the Foyer as a whole.
Go Green is a great opportunity to not only change our day-to-day habits, but to encourage young people to make differences today that will affect their tomorrow.
