Walkers Raise Money for Young People

  • 28 July 2020

The Step by Step Sponsored Walk raised a fantastic £3,600 to support young people facing homelessness. Participants chose the distance they wanted to walk, asked friends and family to sponsor them, and then set out on socially distanced routes across Hampshire.

Those participating in this good cause included friends and Step by Step volunteers Gordon and Matthew, who walked 30 km along the route of the Basingstoke canal - a feat that saw them walking for 12 gruelling hours. Also taking part was schoolgirl Heidi who is fundraising for Step by Step as part of her Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and will also be helping with Sleep Out Extreme in October.

The beautiful weather made for a pleasant walk, while the funds raised will help local young people towards a brighter future.

“We would like to thank everyone who took part or donated,” said Anda Chiu, Head of Fundraising at Step by Step. “The walk was a great success at a time when fundraising is especially challenging for charities. The money raised will make a genuine difference to young people going through some very tough times.”

Our next fundraising event is Sleep Out Extreme on 9th October - will you take on the challenge and sleep out so that vulnerable young people don't have to? Find out more here.
