The inaugural Step by Step 10K Walk proved to be a fantastic success, raising £1,500 for young people at risk of homelessness.
A total of 55 walkers took part in the trek at the Devil’s Punch Bowl, Surrey. The route took them along the old trail, up to Gibbet Hill, onto the Downs to give fantastic views of London, and then ascended to the Temple of the Four Winds. Along the way, the walkers took in the park’s natural beauty and learnt about the myths and legends of the historic site.
The trail at the National Trust park was as challenging as it was picturesque. Although the walkers enjoyed fair weather on the day, rainfall from the night before meant the ground was slippery underfoot, further adding to challenge.
Thanks to the stewardship of Step by Step volunteers, all participants successfully completed the 10 kilometre course and found their way back to base.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped raise money for Step by Step and the young people we support. Thanks also to The Royal School for allowing us to use their Princess Anne Hall as a base for the start and end of the walk.
We’re looking forward to doing it again next year!
