We are delighted to have secured a local authority contract in West Berkshire, allowing us to continue running our Supported Lodgings service in the county for another three years. The service will provide 20 Supported Lodgings places and three emergency beds in the Thatcham, Newbury and Hungerford areas.
This is fantastic news for Step by Step, demonstrating the success of the Supported Lodgings model and the commitment of the team in delivering it. Supported Lodgings prevents homelessness for young people by pairing them with host families or individuals to give them a safe and supported home.
We were able to win the West Berkshire tender thanks to our outstanding reputation, having delivered second-to-none service in the county over the last five years.
“I am very proud of the West Berkshire team for creating and now sustaining such a strong and highly-respected Supported Lodgings service,” commented Kelly Giles, Supported Lodgings Manager. “The quality support has resulted in consistently great outcomes and an outstanding professional reputation that makes us stand tall above any competitor in the area.”
Lisa Chrichard, Senior Support Worker, added: “Step by Step have an amazing reputation with West Berkshire. We work closely with a team of West Berkshire social workers who are passionate about what they do, alongside our dedicated and inspirational hosts who are invaluable to the service and make our job so rewarding.”
Step by Step’s Supported Lodgings service operates across six counties in the south of England, with 220 places for young people who might otherwise be homeless.
