What is Family Mediation?
Family mediation provides a safe space to talk about how you’re feeling, and for your parent(s) / carer(s) to share how they are feeling, with a trained mediator to support the conversation. Family mediation has helped improve relationships and helped to prevent homelessness.
You may be arguing more, feel misunderstood, or like you no longer fit in. If you’re aged 11-25 and you and your parent(s) / carer(s) are feeling that communication has broken down, mediation may be for you.
Family mediation is a voluntary process; it will only work if people realise that there’s a problem and want to change things. The mediator will meet each family member one to one, and then arrange a joint meeting afterwards.
We have trained Mediators in several of our Foyers and within our Supported Lodgings team. Launch Step Chat to enquire about mediation for you / your family.

It was nice to be able to talk to someone I didn’t really know, and talk about my worries without being judged.
The counsellor listened to me and provided achievable and realistic methods of coping for me.
