Our Christmas fundraising appeal is back for 2024. This year, we’re inviting our supporters to see the unique potential in young people, just as Santa saw in Rudolph. Every young person has their own light, their own gifts – sometimes all they need is someone to believe in them.
Open Doors raises vital funds to support our accommodation and wellbeing services, not just over Christmas, but all year round. Last year, we raised an incredible £53,000 which helped to change dozens of young lives.
For young people experiencing homelessness, Christmas is a stark reminder of everything they don’t have. Thanks to the kindness of our supporters, we can offer over 300 young people a Christmas of safety, warmth and hope.
“It's always humbling to see so many individuals, community groups and companies coming together to support our Open Doors appeal,” says Jennifer Westmoreland, Fundraising Manager at Step by Step. “Their kindness makes a genuine difference in transforming lives. The young people can experience a Christmas many of us take for granted, while having the chance to leave homelessness behind them for good.”
We believe the young people we work with are true heroes, having navigated unimaginable challenges with strength and tenacity. Together, we can Open Doors to a safe and supported Christmas and a brighter future.
We are proud to announce the opening of our new move-on property in Bedhampton. This home will support up to four young people aged 18 and over, many of whom might otherwise be left waiting on housing lists, homeless, or relying on a friend’s sofa.
The Bedhampton property is the third Step by Step move-on home – a unique accommodation model for young people ready to move on with their lives but with no viable housing options available to them.
