We received a welcome boost to our early intervention services thanks to funding from the Sovereign Network Group.
The £5,000 donation from the group’s Positive Pathways Fund will expand our Launch service in Basingstoke, reaching more young people with tailored 1:1 mentoring that addresses the root causes of negative behaviour and helps prevent risk factors for homelessness.
This early intervention approach will help improve the lives and outcomes of young people in Basingstoke, with a focus on those aged 16-17.
Jessica Oliver, Trust and Grants Manager at Step by Step, commented: “We’ve been working in Basingstoke for over 8 years, and we’re pleased to partner with Sovereign Network Group to bring both awareness and funding to the crucial work we deliver to local young people. Bringing two established and experienced community-minded organisations together can only improve services for young people – we’re excited to see the progress that can be made together over the next year and beyond.”
Darryl MacAndrew, Community Investment and Partnership Lead for SNG, added: “The Positive Pathway Fund was created to provide community organisations with a youth focus the chance to deliver meaningful and impactful work in the community that can contribute in diverting young people away from anti-social behaviour and serious crime, as well as supporting young people currently affected by such issues by providing positive pathways for them to explore, grow, develop and give back positively.
“I am therefore very happy to be supporting Step by Step and excited to see how this funding will help support their service delivery and the positive behaviour outcomes with the young people they support.’’
Step by Step’s Launch service affects real change young people, providing essential, early intervention support before issues can escalate. Each young person has a dedicated Support Worker, signposting and supporting them to access training and employment opportunities, develop confidence and self-esteem, and reduce any anti-social behaviour.
Thanks to support from the Positive Pathways Fund, more young people in Basingstoke can be supported to attain the brighter future they deserve.
Step by Step’s Supported Lodgings has become the first service of its kind to achieve Ofsted accreditation. We are now the largest Supported Lodgings provider in the UK, as well as being considered the authority in the field.
