When you choose to support Step by Step, you are already making a difference in the lives of young people at risk of homelessness. But there is a simple way to increase the value of your donation, at no extra cost to you. Gift Aid adds 25% to every eligible donation. That means more safe accommodation, more emotional support, and more life-changing opportunities for young people.
Donate TodayGift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities like Step by Step to claim back the basic rate tax you’ve already paid on your donation. If you are a UK taxpayer, your gift automatically becomes worth 25% more, just by ticking a box or signing a declaration.
So, for every £20 you give, we receive £25. That extra £5 could contribute towards supported housing, or provide a warm meal for a young person in need.
Gift Aid isn’t just a box to tick. It’s a real, tangible way to increase your impact. In fact, over the course of a year, Gift Aid helps us provide hundreds of hours of extra support.
Every Gift Aided donation helps us go further, reach more, and do more. You’re not just donating. You’re championing real change.

Adding Gift Aid is quick and easy. If you donate online, you’ll be given the option to confirm your eligibility. Just tick the box and we’ll do the rest.
If you donate by post or in person, you can complete a short Gift Aid declaration form. This form lets us claim the tax back on your donation, and on any future donations you make, unless you tell us otherwise.
Gift Aid can be added to one-off donations or regular giving. Either way, that extra 25% goes directly to helping young people in need.
You must be a UK taxpayer: You need to have paid income or capital gains tax that is at least equal to the amount Step by Step will claim on your donations in the current tax year.
Keep your details up to date: Let us know if you stop paying tax, change your name or address, or want to cancel your declaration.
There’s no cost to you: Gift Aid is paid by HMRC, not by you.
