Discover fostering this Foster Care Fortnight

Foster Care Fortnight is the UK’s biggest annual campaign to raise awareness of fostering, led by The Fostering Network. It brings together fostering services, carers, and communities to highlight the life changing impact fostering can have.

This year, Foster Care Fortnight runs from 11 to 24 May. It is a moment to learn more, ask questions, and take your first step towards becoming a foster carer.

At Step by Step, we are proud to be part of this national movement. If you have ever considered fostering, this is the perfect time to explore what it could look like for you.

What is Foster Care Fortnight?

Foster Care Fortnight is a nationwide campaign that shines a light on the role foster carers play in supporting young people.

It is designed to:

  • raise awareness of fostering
  • encourage more people to consider becoming foster carers
  • celebrate the difference carers make every day

You can learn more about the campaign on The Fostering Network website.

For many people, Foster Care Fortnight is where their journey begins. It is a chance to move from thinking about fostering to understanding what it really involves.

Why explore fostering with Step by Step this Foster Care Fortnight?

Choosing who you foster with matters. At Step by Step, we offer a different kind of fostering experience, one that is personal, purposeful, and rooted in our mission to prevent youth homelessness.

Foster one child, support many more

Step by Step Fostering is fostering that gives back. When you foster with Step by Step, your impact reaches beyond your home.

The income generated through fostering helps fund our wider services, supporting young people facing homelessness across our communities. That means by fostering one young person, you are helping many more access safe accommodation, support, and opportunities.

A small agency, with personal support

We are a smaller, values led organisation. That means you are never just a number.

You will receive:

  • dedicated, consistent support from a small team
  • regular contact and guidance tailored to you
  • training that builds your confidence and skills

For many people, this level of personal support is what makes the difference.

Local, experienced, and committed

We have been supporting young people for decades. Our fostering service sits alongside accommodation, counselling, and life skills support, giving us a deep understanding of the challenges young people face.

We do not just provide placements. We help young people build stability, confidence, and a future.
