Supported Lodgings host pack: National Supported Lodgings Week

Help us find more hosts this National Supported Lodgings Week

What you do as a host means the world to the young person or people you support, and to us. This National Supported Lodgings Week, we’d love your help spreading the word. No pressure at all, but there’s no better advocate for Supported Lodgings than you. Even one share could help another young person find a home.

Take the Stacked Against You Challenge

We’re launching a new challenge for National Supported Lodgings Week, and we’d love you to be one of the first to try it. Build a safe home out of Lego, or whatever you can find in your house - think outside of the box, then pick one of the four additional challenges. 

Please send your video or photo to Sally at sally.britt@stepbystep.org.uk by Thursday 29 October.

Add the frame to your profile picture

  1. Open the Canva link: https://canva.link/lomxadhqsie29dw.
  2. Sign in, or create a free Canva account.
  3. Click Use template.
  4. Upload your photo and drag it into the circle.
  5. Click Share, then Download, then This Page and choose PNG.
  6. Upload it to Facebook as your profile picture.

Share a graphic

On your phone, press and hold a graphic, then choose Save. On a computer, right-click and choose Save image as.

Share a post

Pick a post, add your own words where you see the gaps, and attach one of the graphics. A sentence or two about your own experience makes all the difference.

Where to share: your own Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn, and any local community groups you belong to. Please use the community group version for groups. It has no hashtags, as many groups don’t like them.

Keeping everyone safe

Please don’t share:

  • Photos of the young person you host, even from behind or with their face hidden
  • Their name, age, college, job or anything that could identify them
  • Anything about their story or why they came to Supported Lodgings
  • Your address, or a location tag at home

This goes for your challenge video too. If you’re unsure whether sharing is right for your placement, please check with your placement coordinator before you post.

Just share what it’s been like for you. You don’t need to know all the answers: point them to https://www.stepbystep.org.uk/get-involved/open-my-home/offer-my-spare-room/, and our team will be happy to talk them through the rest.
