Young people from our Havant and New Forest Foyers came together for a bowling day at Hollywood Bowl in Gunwharf Quays, invited and supported by volunteers from Zurich Community Trust.
Two young people were given a lift from Havant, and our opportunities fund was used to buy train tickets for all four living in the New Forest Foyer. Once they hit the lanes, the two teams went head-to-head, with two Zurich Community Trust volunteers supporting each side throughout.
Havant came out on top overall, with one of their young people securing a trophy for the highest score of the day. The group shared a nacho platter on the lanes, followed by burgers and fries for lunch, and several took the chance to explore the shops around Gunwharf Quays afterwards.
Beyond the game itself, the day gave young people from different Foyers the opportunity to meet each other and build new friendships.
“I’m so thankful to Zurich Community Trust for the support they provide Step by Step, having previously spruced up the Havant Foyer garden and now taking the young people out for some fun.” John, who supported the group on the day, showed his appreciation. “It was great for young people to meet residents from other foyers, and they all got along well too.”
Step by Step would like to thank Zurich Community Trust for everything they do for us, including giving their time to make this day out possible.
The Step by Step Abseil saw a group of fearless fundraisers take on the 100 metre drop from Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower, raising over £14,000 for young people going through hard times.
