We are delighted to report that our Open Doors 2023 appeal raised over £53,000. This fantastic result is thanks to the generosity of our amazing supporters, including individuals, companies and community groups.
Our festive fundraiser seeks to support the young people that stay with us over the Christmas period and beyond. Once again, our supporters really stepped up to contribute to one of our biggest ever totals.
We would particularly like to thank Croudace Homes, Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, Basingstoke Skip Hire and Yateley School for their especially generous donations.
Rio Rossarne, Interim Head of Fundraising, commented: “Despite the cost of living crisis, it was truly inspiring to see so many people and groups coming together to contribute to our appeal. Open Doors is a key fundraiser for Step by Step and helps make a genuine difference to so many young lives - even more so in these challenging times.”
Supporters also sent in Open Doors Gift Tags with their messages for young people. It was so heartwarming to read some lovely, thoughtful words, and fantastic for the young people to know there were so many people thinking of them.
These messages included:
“I hope you feel warm and safe. I hope you know that people love and care for you.”
“Keep strong. Look into yourself and see strength. You are a wonderful human and you will prevail.”
“Hi, we don’t know each other, but I’ll be thinking of you at Christmas and through the year ahead.”
Every young person had a Christmas dinner and was given a couple of presents. It was lovely to see them relaxed and enjoying themselves – such a contrast to what the alternative might have been.
Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to another successful appeal. The funds raised from Open Doors will benefit young people throughout the year.
