We were delighted to be selected as a finalist in the Charity of the Year category at the Place to Be Proud Of Awards 2024.
Organised by Destination Basingstoke, the annual awards recognise charities, voluntary groups and individuals that make a positive contribution to the community in Basingstoke and the surrounding area. Our Basingstoke Foyer accommodation was shortlisted for its work supporting young people facing homelessness and other challenges.
The awards ceremony was attended by Step by Step’s Emma Young, Basingstoke Foyer Manager, and Amanda Martin, Support Worker.
Emma commented: “It was a fantastic evening and very inspiring, and I was so proud to represent Step by Step. It was great to be recognised for the fantastic work Step by Step does, not just at our Basingstoke Foyer, but across all our services.”
The Charity of the Year Award was ultimately won by St Michael’s Hospice; we were pleased to come runner-up among some very inspiring initiatives and organisations.
Well done to the amazing team at Basingstoke Foyer for this well-deserved recognition.
Step by Step CEO Debbie Moreton is leading by example at the Step by Step abseil on Saturday 11th July.
Debbie will be taking on the daunting 100 metre drop, representing the charity and the hundreds of young people we support every year. This is despite Debbie's paralysing fear of heights.
