Basingstoke Move On Accommodation Launched

  • 27 August 2025

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new move on accommodation in Basingstoke. The three bedroom house will allow young people to take the next step and live independently in the community, but with support available from a Step by Step Support Worker should they need it.

The shortage of viable rental properties for young people has been well documented; for young people ready to move on from our supported accommodation, the challenges are even more acute. The Basingstoke move on property – along with our existing move on property in Farnborough – will address this issue. When young people are ready to leave our services, they now have somewhere viable to go.

Debbie Moreton, Step by Step CEO, commented: “It’s fantastic to be expanding our housing options, offering more opportunities for those ready to take the next step towards independent living. The Basingstoke property is a positive addition, supporting young adults as they build brighter, more secure futures.”

The house will be home to three young people at any one time, with the first resident having already moved in.

"It's really great here,” she told us. “I'm really happy. I know I just need to keep making positive steps forward now and can see my future ahead."

A huge thank you to Basingstoke Skip Hire for their incredible £5,000 donation, and for Ikea for kitting out the house with new furniture. It’s been wonderful seeing the local community come together to take a stand against youth homelessness.

“This new property is a fantastic addition to our move-on offer,” said Mae Harris, Head of Foyers and Wellbeing. “Working with landlords Clair & Paul, and Basingstoke & Deane has been a real highlight. It means more young people have a safe space to grow and that’s what drives us every day.”

We can't wait to see the residents of the Basingstoke move on accommodation thrive as they begin this new chapter.
