Aldershot Open Day
7 March 2026
Opening your home to a young person is an extraordinary act of kindness. It is also a commitment that deserves the right preparation and ongoing support. That is why we invest in every host with comprehensive training and dedicated support, so you are never alone on the journey.
Every young person who comes into Supported Lodgings has their own story. Some may have faced instability, care placements, or challenges that have left them feeling uncertain about their future. As a host, you have the power to help them rebuild confidence and learn vital life skills.
We know that caring for a young person is not the same as parenting your own children or living in a house share. It requires understanding, clear boundaries, and practical know-how. Training ensures you feel prepared, confident, and supported from the very first day.
Before a young person moves in, you will receive an induction to Supported Lodgings. This covers:
Many young people have experienced challenges that affect their trust, self-esteem, or mental wellbeing. Our safeguarding training ensures you can:
From helping with budgeting to navigating college applications, our training gives you practical tools for everyday life as a host. You will explore:
You will have a named Step by Step placement coordinator who checks in regularly, offering guidance, problem-solving, and a listening ear whenever you need it.
Hosting is a meaningful and life-changing experience, and we're here to guide you every step of the way. Alongside our expert support, you’ll also be connected with a network of fellow hosts – people who understand what it’s like and are ready to share advice, encouragement, and real-life insights.
We recognise that opening your home involves additional costs. Hosts receive a regular allowance meaning you can focus on providing a stable and supportive environment without worrying about the extra financial burden.
If you are thinking about becoming a Supported Lodgings Host, the best way to find out more is to have a no-obligation conversation with our team. We will talk you through the process, answer your questions, and help you decide if hosting is right for you.
Join us at events across the region and take a stand against youth homelessness. From community gatherings to fundraising challenges and partner-led activities, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Discover what’s coming up and find the event that’s right for you.
