Adam is one of our amazing London Marathon 2026 runners, taking on the challenge for Step by Step. Here he shares a bit about himself and why he was keen to represent young people facing homelessness.
I would consider myself a happy, ambitious and dedicated person. I work as a consultant at an executive search firm, specialising within the social housing sector, which has really shaped my appreciation for the impact charities like Step by Step have.
Outside of work, I’m very family- and friends-oriented, and enjoy keeping active through running, hiking and playing golf, as well as taking on new personal challenges.
Step by Step’s work genuinely changes lives. Supporting young people who are facing homelessness or difficult circumstances and giving them a second chance, is incredibly powerful. The impact they have can shape someone’s future in a way that lasts forever.
Running the Bournemouth Half Marathon for Step by Step last year felt like a meaningful way to support a charity whose values I really believe in. Knowing that the effort I put in could help Step by Step continue empowering young people and giving them hope was a huge motivation for me.
Alyssa’s story stayed with me because she was so young. At 16, being without stability or clear support must have been frightening and it’s easy to see how quickly her situation could have become unsafe without the right intervention.
What stood out most to me is how vital Step by Step’s work is. Being there at the right moment can completely change a young person’s path, giving them a second chance to feel safe, supported and hopeful about what comes next.
I was extremely shocked when finding out I would be representing this fantastic charity! The London Marathon has been something on my mind for a long time, and since I’d ran two half marathons already it was inevitably the next thing on my bucket list. But to be told you’re actually going to be running it, I’m both terrified and excited at the same time!
I’ve got a few events planned which incorporate my local pub, who are helping me with a quiz and hopefully a karaoke night very soon!
By supporting Step by Step, you’re helping protect young people at their most vulnerable and giving them hope for the future. Your support can truly change a life.
I am running for something bigger than myself and a chance to give something back would give me an overwhelming sense of achievement and joy as I know that what Step by Step does is so important.

We are proud to announce the opening of our new move-on property in Bedhampton. This home will support up to four young people aged 18 and over, many of whom might otherwise be left waiting on housing lists, homeless, or relying on a friend’s sofa.
The Bedhampton property is the third Step by Step move-on home – a unique accommodation model for young people ready to move on with their lives but with no viable housing options available to them.
