We are proud to announce the opening of our new move-on property in Bedhampton. This home will support up to four young people aged 18 and over, many of whom might otherwise be left waiting on housing lists, homeless, or relying on a friend’s sofa.
The Bedhampton property is the third Step by Step move-on home – a unique accommodation model for young people ready to move on with their lives but with no viable housing options available to them.
Mae Harris, Head of Foyer and Wellbeing Services, explained: “These much-needed houses support vulnerable young people who too often slip through the gaps in existing services, while pushing the government to recognise that young people over 18 still deserve safe, supported accommodation. Eighteen isn’t cheaper, and the challenges don’t disappear overnight.”
Our move-on houses have already demonstrated great success, with young people transitioning to full independence, returning home after restorative family work, securing employment, and achieving so much more.
We are fortunate to be working with passionate, supportive landlords for this project. Nicky and Lester’s partnership and belief in what we do makes a real difference.
The new property is also supported by long-standing Step by Step partners the FatFace Foundation.

We are proud to partner with Step by Step once again and to contribute £15,000 towards their brand new move‑on property in Bedhampton, helping to create a safe and supportive environment for young people as they take their next steps toward independence. The new move-on house will allow young people to build independence, learn to live with others, and manage bills and responsibilities, while still able to access ongoing support from Step by Step.
