Young People Invited to Speak Out!

We’ve launched a new initiative to help young people shape the direction of Step by Step. Speak Out! is a forum that meets once a month where young people give feedback on our services and talk about changes that would benefit them. The idea is that young people have their voices heard and help to shape our future plans.
In return, young people get the chance to interact with their peers, discuss matters of importance to them, and gain some volunteering experience to add to their CV.
“Young people are at the heart of everything we do,” explains Debbie Moreton, Step by Step CEO. “They are the reason we exist as a charity and every decision we make is to benefit the young people we support. Therefore, we thought it would be great to have young people involved in that decision making process.”
Although the initiative is still in its infancy, young people have already shared valuable feedback that have led to changes being made. A Speak Out! newsletter keeps young people and staff in the loop with the feedback received and what follow up action is being taken.
Speak Out! is always looking for new young people to join the forum and lend their insight. Any young person can take part, whether they are supported by Step by Step or not.
