Step by Step was founded on a belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to realise their potential. What began as a local effort to help young people in crisis has grown into a movement across the South of England. Our journey is one of hope, determination and the power of community.
In 1987, Bridget Crowther founded Step by Step -then known as Blackwater Valley Accommodation Projects- to support young people in Aldershot who were facing homelessness and hardship. Her vision was to create a safe and supportive environment where young people could rebuild their lives and move forward with confidence.
What began as a small initiative soon grew into a trusted local service, laying the foundation for the charity's future impact.
Today, we are a leading youth charity, empowering young people across the South of England to overcome adversity and realise their full potential.
Bridget Crowther founds Step by Step to provide practical help and emotional support for young people in crisis.

Today, Step by Step stands as a beacon of hope. But our journey is far from over.
