Hong Kong Delegates Visit Step by Step
We were delighted to welcome 11 delegates from Hong Kong recently. Representatives from a number of charities visited Step by Step’s Aldershot foyer to find out about the work we do, our specialist services and how we are funded. The aim was to gain insights that could be put into practice back home.
The group represented three major charities: The Salvation Army of Hong Kong, the BGCA (Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association), and Caritas-HK. They received a presentation from Step by Step leadership, before being given a tour of the accommodation areas. A Q-and-A session rounded out the afternoon and was a great opportunity to share ideas and experiences.
The delegates considered Step by Step an authority in the homelessness support sector, so were keen to make the most of the visit and proved very engaged and inspired.
Debbie Moreton, Step by Step CEO, commented: “It was such a privilege to welcome the delegation from Hong Kong to our foyer. It was a pleasure to show them around, explain how things work in our services and share the knowledge we’ve acquired over the years. It’s especially exciting for us to be working with international NGOs and be able to spread our expertise worldwide. We cannot wait to see what comes out of the collaboration.”
The visitors told us: “Thank you for your insights and expertise. It was really valuable to hear about the great work of Step by Step first-hand.” They kindly presented Step by Step staff with gifts from Hong Kong.
The delegates met with a handful of other organisations while they were in the UK; we are delighted to be one of the charities they chose to visit.
